Orthopedics

Total Hip Replacement(THR)

Total Hip Replacement(THR): The procedure is suitable for elderly patients where the head of femur (thigh bone) is removed and the articulation is metal with plastic.
Deltamotion Hip): Asian Joint Reconstruction Institute (AJRI)have developed the surgical technique for Deltamotion implantation and is Asia's largest experience of the revolutionary Deltamotion hip.
Revision Hip Surgery: The surgery is performed to repair an artificial hip joint (prosthesis) that has been damaged over time due to an infection, or due to normal wear and tear of the prosthetic hip. It helps to correct the problem, so the hip can function normally again.
Hip Resurfacing Surgery (HRS):The BHR (Birmingham Hip Resurfacing) and BMHR (Birmingham Mid Head Resection) prostheses are designed primarily for young and more active patients who would otherwise be forced to have a total hip replacement (THR) in the absence of a hip resurfacing. The BMHR procedure is performed on patients having avascular necrosis (AVN), large femoral cysts, or patients with anatomical difficulties such as hip dysplasia or Perthes disease where the BHR procedure is unsuitable and may fail because the quality of their femoral bone is compromised, or they simply don’t have enough bone available to securely implant a BHR.

Total Knee Replacement

Total Knee Replacement(THR): In this procedure the diseased knee joint is replaced with an artificial implant. The lower end of the femur bone is removed and replaced with a metal shell.
Oxinium (Ceramic) Knees: The OXINIUM Oxidized Zirconium is a path-breaking, award-winning, and patented ceramic-metal alloy beneficial for younger patients who have an active lifestyle and a high level of physical activities for its more strength and hard surface as well its less brittleness and wear-out rate. It is also preferred for patients who are allergic to metals.
Revision Knee Surgery: Revision is required for patients whose primary replacement implants have failed due to varied reasons (wear and tear, infection, primary failure).
Unicondylar Knee Replacement: The merits of this procedure is that the incision is smaller with less blood loss. There is natural function at the joint as one half of the knee is preserved.
Knee Arthroscopy: A knee arthroscopy involves a few small keyhole-sized incisions, versus one full incision as in traditional open surgery to allow your doctor to access certain areas of the procedure site. Because the arthroscope and surgical instruments are thin, your surgeon can use very small incisions, rather than the larger incision needed for open surgery. This results in less pain and joint stiffness for patients, and often shortens the time it takes to recover and return to favorite activities. The type of surgery that your doctor recommends will depend on your medical needs - some procedures may require full access to the surgical site, while other procedures may only require limited access to the surgical site.
Ligament reconstruction: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) | Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) | Collateral ligament reconstruction | Patellar dislocations (MPFL).
Joint Preserving Procedure: Meniscal repair | Meniscal root repair | Cartilage repair procedures (Micro fracture, BMAC cartilage repair, ACI – Autologous chondrocyte implantation)

Robotic Knee Replacement

NAVIO Robotic Knee Replacement: The NAVIO system is an advancement in the way the orthopedic surgeons perform partial knee replacement. The system works in conjunction with surgeon's skilled hands to achieve the precise positioning of the knee implant based on each patient's unique anatomy. This added level of accuracy can help improve the function, feel and potential longevity of the partial knee implant in addition to having more accuracy and safety, best outcomes and less hospital stay.

Spine Treatment And Surgery

Microdiscectomy: In a microdiscectomy or microdecompression spine surgery, a small portion of the bone over the nerve root and/or disc material from under the nerve root is removed to relieve neural impingement and create more space for the nerve to heal. A microdiscectomy surgery is typically performed for a herniated lumbar disc and is more effective in treating leg pain (also known as radiculopathy) than lower back pain.
Spinal Fusion: The procedure involves the permanent joining of the vertebrae. This is performed at any level in the spine and prevents movement between the fused vertebrae, at a painful segment. The purpose of this surgery is to reduce and alleviate discomfort caused due to painful joints and degenerated discs.
Anterior Cervical Discectomy And Fusion (ACDF): is a surgical procedure that treats nerve root or spinal cord compression by decompressing the spinal cord and nerve roots of the cervical spine to stabilise the corresponding vertebrae. This procedure is carried out when other non-surgical treatments have failed. Most of the neck fusions, about 90% of them are 1 and 2 level.
Cervical Myelopathy: The Spine Unit at SIMS effectively addresses cervical myelopathy that occurs when the spinal cord gets compressed with age, due to wear and tear and is usually seen in patients who are 50 years or older that results in a variety of symptoms such as weakness in the hands, numbness, loss of coordination and balance and neck pain etc. The unit also effectively handles other spine conditions such as spine trauma, spine tumours, spine TB and spinal infection disorders.

Keyhole Arthroscopic Procedure

SIMS AJRI’s Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine service offers keyhole and minimally invasive solutions for complex knee, shoulder and other joint problems of particular interest in the field of joint-preserving surgery, which tries to save joint lives and postpone knee replacement operations.
Knee Arthroscopy
Ligament Reconstruction: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) | Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) | Patellar dislocations (MPFL)
Joint Preserving Procedure: Meniscal repair | Meniscal root repair | Cartilage repair procedures (Micro fracture, BMAC cartilage repair, ACI – Autologous chondrocyte implantation.
Shoulder Arthroscopy: Shoulder Dislocation: Arthroscopic Stabilization, Bankart Reconstruction, Open Latarjet Procedure, Open iliac crest bone.
Shoulder Rotator Cuff Repair: Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair; Arthroscopic biceps superior capsular reconstruction for irreparable tears; Arthroscopy-assisted lower trapezius tendon transfer.
Shoulder Arthritis: CAM procedure.
AC joint arthritis: Arthroscopic Mumford procedure.
AC joint dislocation: Arthroscopy-assisted AC joint reconstruction.
Arthroscopic calcific tendonitis debridement.
Elbow Arthoscopic Procedures: Synovectomy; biopsy; removal of loose body parts; surgery on tennis elbow; release of the rigid elbow.
